Baptismal Class - Part 2: Formation

- Why do I need a class?
  The celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism is a beautiful moment to reflect on your own faith and spiritual journey.
  
  By requesting Baptism for your child, you express your desire to share your Catholic faith and to raise your child within a loving community of believers, guiding them in the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  
  A central part of this commitment is regular participation in Sunday Mass. If parents are not able to make this commitment at this time, they are encouraged to reflect on their reasons for requesting Baptism for their child.
  
  A way to help parents understand and live up to the responsibilities that baptism brings along, parents and godparents are required to complete Pre-Baptismal Formation before they ask for a date to celebrate their child’s baptism. This formation will be good for three years, before we ask you to attend formation again.
  
  If parents or godparents have already attended a class at another parish, a certificate or letter of attendance must be submitted.
- Formation at St. Angela
  Per archdiocesan guidelines, the pre-baptismal class must be of 8 hours and a minimum of 6 hours. We ask you to do formation by,
  Watching a series of videos found here
  Attending a 3-hour class at St. Angela (in-person or virtual)
  
  Combined with the videos and the class attendance, the total formation time is 6 hours, as recommended by the Archdiocese.
  
  Once you have fulfilled these 2 parts of the formation, a certificate of attendance will be emailed to you within a week.
- Note about the Godparents class
  If godparents are not from the local area, they may attend a formation class at their home parish or in a parish that is closer to them.
