As music ministers, we strive for our music to “clothe the liturgy” in beauty and to encourage the “full, conscious, and active participation of the faithful” in singing at mass. We offer our music with joy and reverence, whether in a choir, as a cantor, or as an instrumentalist. We would love for you to join our ministry as you share your gifts and grow in faith! All are welcome.
Please contact music directors Matthew Sarmiento or Josh Sarmiento at [email protected] for more information.
Our Music Ministry needs YOU!
Do you play an instrument? Love to sing? Use your gifts to serve the Lord and our parish! Here are all the ways you can share your talents with our parish Music Ministry:
Chancel Choir (Open to adults and high school students)
Director: Josh Sarmiento
The Chancel Choir provides sacred choral music at our weekly 10 AM Sunday Mass and all major liturgical celebrations at our parish. Previous music experience is helpful, but not required. Participants must simply possess the ability to match and maintain correct pitch and be willing to commit to weekly rehearsals and liturgies. No audition is required. We will conduct an informal vocal assessment to assign you to the proper voice part (SATB) during your first rehearsal. Rehearsals occur every Tuesday during the academic year from 7 PM to 8:30 PM in the church.
Our Chancel Choir regularly sings at Archdiocesan Confirmation liturgies with Catholics across the Archdiocese. It recently had the privilege of traveling to Carnegie Hall to perform alongside choirs from around the country in November 2025.
12 PM Choir (Open to adults and high school students)
Director: Josh Sarmiento
The 12 PM Choir is a new choral group that will be starting in the Spring at our parish. It will serve as a branch of the 10 AM Chancel Choir, singing at the Sunday 12 PM Mass with the same music, rehearsal schedule, and membership requirements.
Youth Choir (Open to students in 2nd grade through 8th grade)
Director: Lester Lopez
If your child loves to sing, joining the choir is a great way for them to be good stewards of their gifts! The Youth Choir sings once a month at the 12 PM Sunday Mass and for major liturgies (like Christmas), leading the assembly in song, and helping everyone to fully and actively participate in the liturgy. All children in grades 2-8 are welcome. The cantor role for this group is open to youth who are mature enough to understand their responsibilities and to carry them out well and with appropriate reverence. Rehearsals occur every Tuesday during the academic year from 6 PM to 7 PM in the church.
Contemporary Choir (Open to high school students and adults)
Director: Denise Rios
This group’s mission is to encourage and support congregational singing by providing liturgical music in a contemporary, charismatic style at the weekly 5 PM Sunday mass, along with other major liturgical celebrations (i.e. Christmas and Easter).
Instrumentalists and singers are welcome. Special emphasis is placed on outreach to our teens and young adults. Rehearsal time is on Sundays at 4 PM for instrumentalists, 4:15 PM for singers.
Cantor
Cantors are trained liturgical ministers, Psalmists, and leaders of congregational song. Those called to this ministry are skilled singerswith a love of music, willing to commit to independent rehearsal time and preparation. Cantors may also be members of one of the choirs.
Instrumentalists
Instrumentalists heighten the beauty of the music for the assembly. Woodwinds, strings, brass, guitar, and percussion are welcome! Those that wish to share their music during the liturgy may do so regularly, or even seasonally, depending on ability and liturgical need.
Substitute Accompanists
Do you play piano and/or the organ? We're looking for accompanists who are interested in filling in for masses, weddings, and funerals as needed by the parish. Auditions are required. Applicants should be skilled in keyboard performance and possess good sight reading skills. Applicants familiar with Catholic liturgical music preferred. Compensation is available commensurate with experience.
Please fill out the Music Ministry interest form below to tell us more about how you'd like to serve. We hope that all join us in celebrating God's glory through the gift of music!
